I just placed a reservation and intend on going through with it for a Big Bend 2-door 2.7 EcoBoost in Cyber Orange. This’ll be a long 9-12 month wait
I’d been talking with jkm about it and the full details sealed the deal.
Now we wait.

It is tempting as hell, I’ve had a seriously lousy experience with long term reliability and the last 3 fords I’ve owned and I don’t think I’ll buy another anytime soon. This is the same reason I haven’t bought a Jeep too...
I am envious though - when it finally shows up you’ll have to make sure to send in regular dispatches to Opp o!

I have had lots of experiences with the Blue Oval and not one single one that was well pu t together. Reliability used to be bad but they’ve gotten a lot better. I still see brand new F150s with leaky sunroofs and i ll fitting trim.
The Bronco is still seriously tempting. Possibly the only Ford I would currently consider buying. Good on you for going two door! High trims don't get the 7 speed do they?

The horror stories of the transmission issues in a lot of semi-recent Ford products has somewhat tainted them to me at the moment...a fellow teacher at one of the schools I sub at was on her THIRD transmission in their 2014 Escape before they sold it and bought a Dodge Durango (which has been completely trouble-free so far).
Also, when the Base 2-dr Bronco is $40k CAD and the base 2-dr Jeep is $33k CAD...that’s almost a $10k difference. I think the Jeep will still come out on top in sales.

I was very loyal and had bought Ford vehicles for nearly 20 years, probably 10 of them between the wife and I . Last two were a 2010 Flex with an infotainment system that just could not be fixed (which also controlled the HVAC) a transmission that decided to die at 100k and a taste for new 19" tires every 15k miles and a 2012 Focus with a stick (thank god) but had emissions problems that wouldn’t stop and a cat which failed at 80k (outside the emissions warranty) which was an engine removal to replace that would have cost 1/3 the value of the car to fix.
Now we own a Hybrid RAV4 and a TDI Sportwagen and both have been blissful wonders compared to the F ord vehicles we replaced them with.

Our F150 is at like 98k after 3 years since new and the 6R80 still feels fine.
Like with most cars, you will find bad apples. What a shame. I love the 2013+ Escape.

Yeah, I think the transmission issues were mostly their cars and SUVs...their trucks were exempt from that issue, I believe.

Blyat, please don’t post pictures of my future Broncc.
You don’t want a month- long trip to the gulag again.

I’m not sure about the Bronco, but the base Wrangler still has crank windows, manual locks and no air conditioning. I’m not sure how the Bronco is equipped but I ‘m sure that when you compare similarly equipped models they won’t be far off. Plus, you can put the Sasquatch package on any Bronco, to get similar kit on the Wrangler you need to get the Rubicon model.

We’re talking about buying a Bronco now instead of a 4Runner for Hawaii (we’ll be building a home out there and living there part of the year).
4-Door, Badlands, 2.3 liter with the 7-speed manual and the vinyl interior.

Speaking of which, the other day, I set my laptop down on the hood of my company Escape to show a new employee something, and we noticed that all the paint was peeling off the drivers side A-pillar, I mean, all of it, down to the metal. I don’t know how I didn’t see that before. What the hell is it with Fords and shitty paint? My last Town Car, it peeled clean off the hood, on my old Mustang, it blistered and flaked off the hood and trunk lid. They’ve been painting cars for 117 years, they should have that part down by now.

Oof - the fit and finish plus a couple vehicles with terrible reliability have made me swear off new Fords. I might buy an older ford truck but nothing new.
